Team Crockett is now sitting at just over $2200 for our race! I haven't added it to the website as of this moment but it will be done asap.
The evening was a blast! I don't think we could have hoped for anything more. Our goal was just to reach our minimium for the team of $1800 but we've surpassed it and we also have some sponsor's that have earmarked us for a donation.
About half of our party goers dressed up. The winner of our Best Celebrity Look Alike was Aaron's cousin Chris as Gene Simmons. Fabulous! If we had a Best Celebrity Couple it would have been Michelle & Jon as Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World! Party on! Excellent! We seen a lot of teased hair, bandanas, fingerless gloves and pastels.
Our time frame was set for 7 to 11 but it was really hard to shut down at 11, the DJ was awesome and played great music and everyone was up dancing the night away.

Ever since I was in Grade 5 and watched Dirty Dancing at Brandy Hartwick's house I've wanted to be Baby. ***Note the perm inspired by Baby**

So I figured this party would finally give me the opportunity to dress up as Baby - and so the hunt for the perfect "Baby Dress" began.

I found this dress which could be dyed pink.

And it was out of stock so I settled for this which I now realize is un-dyeable and is super long and needs to be hemmed...and requires clothing tape to keep the girls from making any unexpected appearances.

Not exactly a match but it will have to do. At least my hair is short enough that I can pull off the curly hair - minus the bangs of course-

we still haven't gotten an overwhelming response to our invitations.

I will be sending out a friendly email this weekend just to let everyone know that the Chinese Auction has been re-vamped to a Silent Auction and give them the site address so they can check out what goodies we'll have.

Training wise I've been on the treadmill every weekday...I'm not sure I'm prepped for a 10KM run but I'm working on it!

As organizer and team captain I've decided that we will be holding a silent auction for all donated items.
After attending a fundraiser last night and seeing it in action I realized how much easier this will be. We won't have to sell tickets for chinese auction and guests can moniter throughout the night how they're doing on winning an item versus a random drawing.
That being said we've had a few more donations which I will be picking up this week. Keep checking back for updates.

I'll be doing a special Thursday Thirteen with some fun, easy and cheap ideas for dressing 80's style.

We're getting bigger in numbers.

Our foursome has now turned into a sixsome. We have been joined by Steve & Gayle Fraser! This is a fundraiser so the more the merrier.

Most of the party plans are complete, and the RSVPs are coming back - slowly but surely.

While I'm busy waiting I've been figuring out the table centerpieces. They're crafty, slightly cheesy but definitely in the right price range for a fundraiser. I'll post a pic when I've got one completely assembled.

And I'm officially now training for the run. It just hit me that it's 6 months away and what better way to kick off the new year?!

Invitations/RSVP cards have been made and just need to be delivered. Our max capacity for the evening is 120 people so that's what we're aiming for :o)

but there hasn't been much news to post. I've made up Save the Date cards which I've included in some of the friends/families holiday cards. Yes, it's tacky but it's for a very worthy cause so I'll take the chance of being nicknamed The Clampett's or something else hillbilly-ish.
Invites are next to be created which will happen between now and Christmas and then tickets will be on sale starting in January.

A local artist friend of mine has offered to donate a piece of art for our chinese auction. I've also had some very awesome offers from some of our friends with home based businesses.

I can feel the love everyone :o)

Now I just need to actually start training for the run. Basement is almost complete and then I can unwrap the treadmill and start running...okay okay...stop laughing...I mean walking.

This weekend we set a date for our Fundraiser Extravaganza and I've already got the Mackenzie Towne Hall booked and should have the DJ confirmed tomorrow.

So book your babysitters and circle Friday March 7 of '08 on your calendars folks!

Hi! I'm Lesley and I'm the Captain of Team Crockett.This is my husband Aaron who founded our team name of Crockett.
My mom Alberta who jumped on the Crockett bandwagon while the idea was still being formed.
And my Dad Joe who's always up for something new to try.

For various reasons I decided that I wanted to participate in the Uncover the Cure "Underwear Affair" in 2008 and have got a ton of support from friends and family. In the past there hasn't been given a lot of attention to cancers below the waist but with the new HPV vaccine I think that it's about to change.
